HOW TO MAKE THE BEST APPLE CIDER OLD FASHIONED
The trick to getting an Apple Cider Old Fashioned just right is by using quality ingredients. You want the best scotch whisky – so Ballantine’s Finest – and the best cider.
When it comes to cider, there’s plenty of ways to mix things up. Our Apple Old Fashioned recipe uses apple cider brandy for a higher-proof serve. Fresh orchard apples are fermented into cider before being distilled in oak barrels for a smooth, golden spirit. This makes things slightly woodier and richer in taste.
Of course you can swap to fresh apple cider or add a touch of seasonal spice with mulled cider that’s flavoured with warming ingredients such as cinnamon, cloves and orange peel.
However you make your Apple Cider Old Fashioned, do it with Ballantine’s.

WHY WHISKY AND APPLE CIDER GO TOGETHER
Sometimes things are meant to be. And whisky and apple cider are two of those things. Both share a smooth golden finish, with hints of spice and fruity flavour. The sweetness of fresh apple complements the whisky’s honeyed notes. Whilst the warming richness of the whisky brings out the cider’s seasonal taste. Name a better duo for drinking this autumn.
We love the combo so much that we’ve put them together in more whisky cider cocktails. Try our Apple Cider Slushie for a frozen serve that’s made for year round sipping. Or please a crowd with our Whisky Apple Cider Punch. You can also keep warm on a winter’s night with a classic Hot Toddy – simply swap boiling water for hot cider and enjoy the spice.
