We headed to Luanda in Angola for the very first time for Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Studios. A city synonymous with the progressive Kuduro sound.

In this in-depth conversation, we connected with some key players of the Angolan Kuduro scene including Titica, Noite E Dia, Hochi-Fu, Barbosa, Pérola and Batida, to discuss the highly influential scene of Kuduro on home turf.

TRUE MUSIC STUDIOS LUANDA PARTY

For our Luanda debut, we showcased the incredible and highly influential culture of Kuduro, opening a window into the community that it supports in a way never before seen, while also giving a platform to the next generation of Angolan talent. Curated by the undisputed ‘Queen Of Kuduro’ Titica, the night featured the likes of Noite E Dia, DJ Lutonda, DJ Habias, DJ Znobia, and DJ Leo Cris.

LEARNING THE FOUNDATIONS OF KUDURO DANCE WITH MANUEL KANZA

Manuel Kanza, founder of the Afrokanza dance school, showed us the foundations of Kuduro dance, from the historic moves to the latest steps.
