Delhi, India’s bustling capital, is a mesmerising blend of history, culture, and modernity. Steeped in history, Delhi showcases remnants of ancient civilisations, from the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb to the imposing Red Fort, each a testament to the city’s rich past. The streets of Old Delhi, with its chaotic charm and bustling markets, tell tales of Mughal splendor and colonial legacies.

Beyond its historical sites, Delhi is full of energy. It’s a melting pot of cultures, languages, and cuisines, where the aromas of street food intermingle with the sights and sounds of a modern metropolis. From the peace and quiet of local parks to the buzz of nightlife, Delhi is a city like no other.

Delhi-based hip-hop artist Prabh Deep took Iraqi-born DJ MoCity on a 24 hour tour of the city as part of Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True music Studios. Keep reading to find out Prabh Deep’s favourite hidden spots and the reasons why the city means so much to him.

Stop 1: Tilak Nagar, West Delhi

The first stop is Tilak Nagar in West Delhi – the neighbourhood Prabh Deep grew up in. “This neighbourhood made me who I am,” the rapper says in the 24 hours in Delhi video, explaining how the region showcases a tight-knit social fabric, where neighbours aren’t just residents but an extended family. It’s a place where festivals are celebrated with full power, where the delicious smells of diverse cuisines fill the air, and where local markets buzz with activity all year.

Stop 2: District Park, Hauz Khas

The second destination for the duo is the District Park in the Hauz Khas, where Prabh Deep used to go B-boying with his friends. The park was and still is a gathering place for individuals from all walks of life to express themselves via music and dance.

Stop 3: Purple Cheeze, Hauz Khas

Next up is Purple Cheeze, an apparel store in Hauz Khas. Back in the day, when the “Badnaam” hitmaker didn’t have any money, he used to customise his clothes there.

Stop 4: Mizo Diner

Prabh Deep’s favourite place to eat in Delhi is the Mizo Diner. Based in Safdargunj, it is an exciting culinary destination that brings the authentic flavours of Mizoram to the bustling streets of the capital city. The eatery also serves as a cultural ambassador, offering not just food but a glimpse into the rich traditions and heritage of the Mizo community.

Stop 5: True Music Studios, Delhi

The last stop on this visit is True Music Studios, where Prabh Deep performs his headline set. Curated in collaboration with Prabh Deep himself, the lineup championed artists from a range of genres. Desi bass key player Nucleya, rapper and producer Reble and India’s longest-standing and most influential dub-sound system, Delhi Sultanate (BFR Sound System) all came together for the evening.

“Curating the whole thing was a crazy crazy experience,” the rapper says. The Gurgaon based studio is a hub where creativity thrives, and musical aspirations find a space to flourish.

Stepping into True Music Studios Delhi edition, the atmosphere is filled with creative energy. The vivid picture of the studio space—state-of-the-art equipment, acoustic havens, collaborative zones, and perhaps an aura fostering artistic synergy—all designed to inspire and elevate musical endeavours is quite inspiring.

Apart from Prabh Deep’s favourite spots, Delhi is teeming with hundreds of unique places to visit. In fact, the city has a thriving nightlife scene with a myriad of options catering to various tastes. Localities such as Connaught Place, Saket, Mehrauli, Vasant Kunj, Nehru Place, Chanakyapuri and Paharganj have places where you’ll find everything from live music venues to high energy dance floors.

One place that’s highly popular among locals and visitors is the Studio XO Bar—a trendy establishment in South Delhi, known for its vibrant ambiance, great music, and a lively atmosphere that appeals to the city’s nightlife enthusiasts. The venue is a popular spot among all residents. The place is often buzzing with energy, offering a mix of good food, creative cocktails, and a playlist that caters to different tastes in music.

On the other hand, during daytime, it’s worth visiting sites such as Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Chandni Chowk, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi Haat and Lodhi Gardens as Delhi’s charm lies in its diversity—exploring these places allows you to uncover layers of history, culture, and local life that make the city a must-visit destination.
