TRUE MUSIC STUDIOS SAFE & INCLUSIVE DANCEFLOOR POLICY
At Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Studios; we are committed to creating safe and inclusive dancefloors, spaces where music is enjoyed by everyone – free of intolerance.
We are committed to creating an environment where:
- All attendees at our events, including our staff, feel safe and that inclusivity and diversity is valued
- Attendees feel comfortable to report any unacceptable behaviour and are supported to do so
- Attendees can trust consequences for unacceptable behaviour will be handled appropriately
Our policy sets out the protocol for how we will ensure safe dancefloors at Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music events:
1. SAFE & INCLUSIVE DANCEFLOOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Unacceptable behaviour such as discrimination, harassment and sexual assault will be taken seriously. Attendees are encouraged to report these behaviours to any member of staff or our designated Safe Dancefloor Support. Incidences will be responded to immediately, with necessary escalation as required and recorded accordingly. Individuals breaching our policy will be ejected from the venue. All incidents will be handled with discretion.
2. ACCESSIBILITY
We want to make our events accessible for disabled and neuro-divergent individuals. We will do this where possible through lift and/or ramp access, viewing platforms, and accessible signage. If you have accessibility requirements to help you plan a visit to a True Music Studios event, please email us on [email protected]. Boiler Room aim to respond to all enquiries within three working days.
3. Recording and Reporting Incidents
We will record and report any incidents of actual or apparent discrimination, harassment and/or sexual assault. All personal information will be handled sensitively. Incidences must be fed back to Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Studios within 72hrs of the end of the event.
4. Staff Briefing
All staff are to confirm they understand and have read the Safe & Inclusive Dancefloor policy. Briefings will take place one week before the event and a refresher on the day of the event itself where all staff will confirm they are accustomed with our policies. All staff are briefed to follow a step-by-step process to ensure incidences are handled / recorded correctly.
5. ONSITE SAFE DANCEFLOOR SUPPORT
We will have a dedicated Safe Dancefloor Support for all attendees to confide in. Our Safe Dancefloor support will be a friendly, supportive and easily recognisable point of contact (in uniform/with a badge) in addition to our security and staff. They will aim to help with any emotional and physical wellbeing of all attendees at our events and make sure any issues are addressed. If necessary, we will remove individuals causing harm to our dancefloor.
6. ENJOY AND DRINK RESPONSIBLY
At Ballantine’s we are committed to responsible drinking and ensuring that all attendees are over the legal drinking age. All attendees should please enjoy Ballantine’s responsibly at our events. Food will be available to purchase & free drinking water will be present at all events for attendees. Drink responsibly signage will be located throughout the venue.
