Bitters and whisky: the perfect pairing
Bitters have long been a cocktail bar staple. The concentrated flavour extracts of infused herbs, spices and botanicals add tons of depth to spirits and serves, bringing out certain characteristics of the drink. When it comes to whisky, bitters are a favourite ingredient. A few drops elevate the whisky’s complex, citrus notes whilst balancing out the sweetness of sugar syrup.
Can you put bitters straight into whisky?
Bartenders usually drop a few dashes of bitters into most whisky cocktails to bring out the spirit’s orange and fruity flavours. But they can also be added to whisky neat. Try experimening with different flavours to find your favourite blend, from the original Angostura Bitters to fruity variations.
