The Afro Block Os Negões was created in 1982 by a group of activists, artists and sportsmen who attended festivals and cultural events together in Salvador. But at Carnival they were always divided among the various Afro carnival blocks in the city, so as not to be separated, they decided to create the 1.80m (one meter and eighty) Block Os Negões. In 1995, they began to allow the entry of women and men under 1.80m tall. As a musical project that has already circulated in several festivals around the world, in 2000, the group created the Black Entities Forum, together with Ilê Aiyê, Muzenza and Malê Debalê. Involved with social programs and in particular with the Afro-Brazilian community. In addition to valuing ancestors through music, activities to combat inequality and racism. They created social, educational and cultural projects for professional qualification, allowing the inclusion of black people in programs to encourage the generation of work and income in the community.
