There have been many variations of the Atholl Brose over the years from heating it to cooling it, adding milk versus cream and pouring in more whisky. If it works for you, it works! The Atholl Brose is a traditional Scottish whisky cocktail that dates back to the 15th century, making it one of the world’s oldest drinks.
Some say it’s history is disputable. But the cocktail’s name is a bit of a giveaway. ‘Atholl’ being a large historical area of the Scottish Highlands and ‘brose’ the name of an uncooked porridge. Makes sense seeing as the cocktail’s key ingredient is oatmeal.
