KENTUCKY MULE

Cocktail
Kentucky Whisky Mule Cocktail Ballantine's

Simple, refreshing and a seriously light whisky cocktail. The Kentucky Mule is a zingy whisky twist on a classic Moscow Mule recipe. Soon to be your new go-to, but don’t just take our word for it, try it for yourself!

Kentucky Mule vs Moscow Mule

A mule is a summer go-to. Mixing ginger beer, fresh lime and mint leaves, it’s the ultimate mixer come sunny afternoons. The spirit of choice is what gives it a name.

Traditional Moscow Mules are made with vodka, whilst a Kentucky Mule uses whisky for a warmer, spicier serve. You can also swap in tequila for a Mexican twist, or dark rum for a classic Dark ‘n Stormy. We might be biassed but we reckon whisky is the best kinda remix.

Kentucky Mule Ingredients

How to make a Kentucky Mule

  • Add Ballantine’s Finest whisky and lime juice to a copper mug or a highball glass
  • Fill the mug or glass with ice and top with ginger beer
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel

Kentucky Mule variations to try

A mule can be made many ways. And a Kentucky Mule is no different. The ginger, lime and mint combo work with tons of additional flavours. Chuck in fresh blackberries, raspberries or a slice of orange. Or swap out the ginger beer for your go-to mixer. Make it seasonal with apple cider or go lighter with sparkling water or lemon soda. However you like it, we like it.

The best whisky and ginger beer to use for a Kentucky Mule

There’s no rules in cocktail making. Create your Kentucky Mule however you want it. A fresh ginger beer will add a spicer kick, whilst a lighter soda is more refreshing. When it comes to whisky, we use blended scotch to guarantee a smooth, warm serve. Ballantine’s Finest is our go-to. But feel free to experiment with our collection.
