Featuring local artists expressing themselves through their own unique distinctive sounds, our True Music partnership will showcase the very best of these up and coming Ukrainian scenes. In true Boiler Room x Ballantine’s fashion, True Music Kyiv will see the curation of a wide-ranging roster of sounds from the symphonic modern techno of Etapp Kyle, Jana Woodstock’s dark shades of electro to the highly respected and refined selections of Closer resident Shakolin. The global spotlight will be shining on Ukraine and it’s time for the world to hear.
Over the past few years, Etapp Kyle’s resounding and modern techno has merged into an obsession with delivering a quality of sound like no other. His unique approach has echoed throughout the sound systems of the world’s most respected techno institutions and festivals. Ukraine's own secret weapon and part of Berlin's Ostgut Ton and Moscow's Arma 17 families, he's one of the key faces of the Eastern Europe's electronic music scene.
Kyiv-based DJ Jana Woodstock is gaining more and more attention outside her native Ukraine thanks to her heavy techno sounds and electro peppered with industrial and trancey melodies. Jana holds down residencies at Kyiv clubs Osnova and JOY in Moscow and is a frequent guest DJ at internationally renowned CXEMA parties.
Unforgettable basslines and drum machines bring to life the live project of Closer residents Lobanov K.and Alex Savage. Their live performances are well-known in the Kyiv underground fabled for pushing their unique take on underground electro through their Progressive Future imprint
Poly Chain is a project of Sasha Zakrevska, a Kyiv-based composer, curator, DJ, designer and radio host. Her sets are brought to life via unpredictable live performances that span an eclectic spectrum of genres.
Andrey Shakolin is one of Kyiv’s most exciting house and techno selectors, a resident of the city's most celebrated venue Closer and founder of its own Closer Record Store
Tofudj is one of those artists who sees no wrong way. Not aligning to any genres or styles, set aside all expectations when you see him in the club. A champion of unconventional DJing, Tofudj converts any dancefloor into an experimental lab for sound without losing contact with the audience. His new label, Pep Gaffe, is tipped to become a hotbed for the most-radical experiments in Ukraine’s electronic music.
